From Canon City we will go east on US 50 to Penrose where we will stop for lunch.

AMR SOCIAL – SEP @ Jake & Telly's
Sep 18 @ 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm

The September membership social will be held on Wednesday, September 18th at Jake & Telly’s Greek Traverna (2616 Colorado Ave. #24, Colorado Springs, 80904). Drinks will start at 6:00 PM and dinner will be served from the full menu at 6:30. RSVP is required as space is limited to 60 people.

Once again, AMR members will have an opportunity to support a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) project. “The Hanger” serves local teenagers who are living in foster care due to being victims of abuse, neglect or domestic violence. Most of these children leave their home with little or no warning, leaving their belongings behind. The Hanger provides a boutique-like shopping experience where they can choose their own clothes for school, work, or job interviews. In addition to shopping, the teens have the opportunity to help operate the store which provides them with valuable work experience. Many foster teens have no job experience, making it difficult to find employment when they turn 18 and age out of the system. While working in the store, teens go through the complete hiring and training process, and are mentored and coached by adult volunteers.

These are the items most-needed by The Hanger:

Adult-sized clothing in current teen styles and brands that are in-season
Clothing can be new or gently used and washed
Personal hygiene items must be new and full-sized (shampoos, conditioners, body wash, cologne or perfume, deodorant, nail polish, hairbrushes/combs).
Underwear and socks must be new. Bras can be new or very gently used. Teens really love colors and cute styles!
If you’d prefer to make a monetary donation, checks can be made out to “CASA of the Pikes Peak Region”.
